Internship Supervisors

The Department of Health Education and Behavior at the University of Florida would like to thank you in advance for taking time to review the internship approval process to ensure your organization can provide a valuable internship opportunity to our students.  Below you will find information about the structure of the Health Education internship –required of all majors during their final semester.

The Health Education Internship is the final culminating field experience required for the degree Bachelor of Science in Health Education. It is completed during the student’s last semester of enrollment (prior to graduation), and is an opportunity for the student to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired during their degree program (HEB curriculum).

The overarching goal of the internship experience is to expose students to tasks that will be required of them as a professional in the health education field.  The National Health Education Responsibilities and Competencies also help guide the internship job duties, and ultimately determine whether or not a site can provide the necessary experiences for a health education intern.  The duties of the intern must meet a variety of the competencies in order for the student to attain their degree (See Common HEB Intern Duties for examples).  How they meet and/or accomplish the competencies is determined by the site supervisor and intern.  The internship syllabus and other forms required of the internship supervisor during the internship are included below for your convenience.  These forms should explain the internship program and evaluation components to you.

Lastly, if you decide that your organization can provide a valuable health education-related internship experience to the HEB majors, please complete the Internship Site Profile Form and email to hmoses@hhp.ufl.edu.  This form will then be uploaded to the HEB “potential internship site” webpage, which provides HEB students with ready-access to information about your organization and the internship opportunities available.

If you would like to further discuss internship responsibilities and prospective job duties for the HEB intern, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Thank you for your time,
