Change of Major Requirements

The Department of Health Education and Behavior, with a foundation in the social and biological sciences, focuses on health information and theory application. The Department offers one undergraduate major: Health Education and Behavior (Bachelor of Science in Health Education). Students learn techniques to promote healthy lifestyle choices in individual and group settings, with special attention given to diversity and culturally appropriate health education methodologies. Sites for research, student experience and employment include (1) local and state health departments; (2) State or national government agencies (i.e., CDC, NIH); (3) voluntary and non-profit agencies (i.e., American Cancer Society, Planned Parenthood); (4) corporate and/or hospital-based wellness centers; and (5) employee wellness programs. The undergraduate curriculum also provides an excellent foundation for health education and related graduate programs, as well as professional health programs such as nursing, medical school, physician assistant, occupational therapy and physical therapy. (See Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Behavior website)
